I had to come down off the high and get the energy levels back up after completing the GC this week and being a short week for me meant it went pretty quick.
On Tuesday, my lower back and shoulders were pretty tight from struggling in the crosswinds on Sunday so a Massage was in order, but that was about the only event for the week. I didn't have a ride planned for this week but decided to visit my mum in Masterton on Sunday. I finally cleaned the bike then had a pleasant ride over the hill and pootled up to Masterton, passing by the Mobil Nth End on the off-chance that the Palmy riders would be there and sure enough they were so I stopped briefly to have a chat with Chancy and Banditrider. They were soon on the road and I went on to mum's but she was out so a quick decision was made and I was soon on the road after them. It's quite a nice ride out to Castlepoint and the road is in particularly good condition at the moment so I had a reasonable quick ride catching the TEC and two newbies a bit after Blairlogie, then caught the tail of the main group around Whakataki and followed them for the last few Km's to the beach. I had a chat with some of the guys, meeting a couple more of the Palmy crew and left early to see if mum was home, but after a relaxing ride back, she was still out so I headed back to Wellington. There were heaps of bikes out and about so lots of waves later I was back over the hill, put the bike away and relaxing (nana-napping) in an easy chair. 340kms done for the day at a rate of 17.4k/Ltr (a bit low thanks to the quick blat out to the beach).
